First Aid Kit Holistic Essentials

first aid kit_mini (1)

'As a Naturopathic Doctor, I consider homeopathy to be the best home remedy modality for acute (as opposed to chronic) situations, particularly with children. Homeopathic remedies can be found at most healthfood stores, they are inexpensive, and those tiny sweet pellets are extremely easy to administer to a child of any age, even newborns as they dissolve easily on the tongue.

So why aren’t these remedies in every home’s first aid kit? The reason is because most parents are intimidated by the plethora of different remedies out there so they don’t know where to start.
My goal in this article is to list the most important homeopathic remedies to have in your home first aid kit at all times to deal with acute situations and even more importantly, when to appropriately use them.'

First Food Created with Synthetic Biology to Appear This Year

'Like real vanilla ice cream?  If so, get your fill now because by the end of this year it may be just a memory.  The Swiss company Evolva has developed a synthetic vanilla set to be released later this year. But this is no product of the food technology we’ve seen all our lives – the food technology that brought us margarine, monosodium glutamate and artificial flavors. This artificial vanilla will be the first major food additive created with synthetic biology.

What is that?

Synthetic biology is an emerging technology that goes way beyond genetic modification, the process of splicing DNA from one organism into another. It is the total and complete human engineering of biology.  The natural DNA sequence is removed from a cell, and a new computer created DNA sequence is placed into that cell.'

Your Natural First Aid and Herbal Remedy Kit

'Despite our best attempts to live a healthy and toxin free life, there are times when illness or injury strike. In some of these cases (like trauma) conventional medical treatment is certainly warranted and I’m certainly grateful that medical treatment is available if needed.

But what about the times when the illness or injury is not life threatening, but merely uncomfortable or limiting? While our first instinct (especially as parents) may be to get medication to mediate symptoms, there are often natural remedies that don’t interfere with the body’s own immune responses and which can help ease uncomfortable symptoms.

Many of these natural remedies can also be used in the comfort of your own home, rather than having to take yourself or your ill or injured child to a doctor and expose them (and others) to more illness.

The following is a list of what is in my “First Aid Kit” and is a combination of remedies I’ve tested myself, ones suggested by a naturopathic doctor, and ones that I hope to never need! Please note that I am not a doctor and don’t play one on the internet, so this list is for informational purposes only and is not intended to be used as a replacement when medical attention is needed!'

Sweden Becomes First Western Nation to Reject Low-fat Diet Dogma in Favor of Low-carb High-fat Nutrition

'Dr. Eenfeldt also translated an article from a local Swedish newspaper covering the committee’s findings:

Butter, olive oil, heavy cream, and bacon are not harmful foods. Quite the opposite. Fat is the best thing for those who want to lose weight. And there are no connections between a high fat intake and cardiovascular disease.

On Monday, SBU, the Swedish Council on Health Technology Assessment, dropped a bombshell. After a two-year long inquiry, reviewing 16,000 studies, the report “Dietary Treatment for Obesity” upends the conventional dietary guidelines for obese or diabetic people.

For a long time, the health care system has given the public advice to avoid fat, saturated fat in particular, and calories. A low-carb diet (LCHF – Low Carb High Fat, is actually a Swedish “invention”) has been dismissed as harmful, a humbug and as being a fad diet lacking any scientific basis.'
